Scratches
Porcelain is highly scratch resistant but not scratch proof.
Staining
Porcelain worktops are incredibly hard and non-porous and will not absorb liquids, but it is still possible that grease, wine, coffee, nicotine, fruit juices and other strongly coloured substances can stain the surface if not properly protected or if the spills are not cleaned up immediately.
Hygienic
Porcelain worktops are naturally hygienic as they are non-porous.

Dekton Trance
Dekton Trance displays a fluid appearance with a delicate bluish veil. The background features a fusion of cream and grey tones that intermingle seamlessly and create a range of hues blending into white. Fine streaks meander through the surface, fading from oxides to a reddish-golden shade.
Material Type: Porcelain
Brand: Dekton
Price Band: Band 4
Colour: Cream, Grey, White
Thickness: 12mm, 20mm
Advisory on the Use of porcelain thicknesses below 12mm
-
4mm – 8mm:
Suitable primarily for vertical applications such as:-
Wall cladding (interior and exterior)
-
Furniture cladding (cabinet doors, drawer fronts)
-
Fireplace surrounds
-
Facades
These thicknesses are not structurally suitable for horizontal applications that require load-bearing capability.
-
-
8mm – 12mm:
Can be used in select horizontal applications such as:-
Bathroom countertops with adequate support
-
Furniture tops (e.g. sideboards, shelves) with reinforced bases
-
Interior flooring in residential or light commercial areas (subject to substrate and installation method)
-
Not Recommended for the Following Without Reinforcement:
-
Kitchen worktops or countertops with cut-outs (e.g. for sinks or hobs)
-
Cantilevered sections or overhangs
-
High-traffic flooring areas
-
Outdoor benchtops or exposed load-bearing surfaces
Installation & Support Requirements:
Any application using Porcelain below 12mm must include continuous support across the entire surface area. Additional reinforcement—such as bonded substrate panels or concealed framework—may be required to ensure stability and avoid breakage under stress.
Conclusion:
Porcelain thicknesses below 12mm are best reserved for decorative or non-structural uses. For horizontal, load-bearing, or high-impact applications, 12mm or thicker is strongly advised to ensure product integrity and long-term performance.
Estimates
Estimates are subject to change based on the Seller’s discretion, for example but not limited to, sheet optimisation, joint positioning, warranties, other elements that may affect the quantities of materials required. Not all elements of your design can be captured by the estimator, such as waterfall legs, window cills, special edge details, which require further manufacturing time and thus further cost. Worktops.net will produce a full and up to date quotation from the estimate completed by the Buyer, The Buyer must include a full delivery and installation address. Please add your address and up to date contact details on the checkout page.
Colours and Pattern Variations
Important Disclaimer
Materials such as quartz, sintered porcelain, terrazzo, and solid surface may display natural or production-related variations in colour, tone, pattern, and surface characteristics. These variations are inherent to the material and may differ between batches.
Please note that images shown on our website are for illustrative purposes only. While they offer a general indication of pattern and colour, actual appearance can vary due to screen settings and batch-specific differences.
Customers are encouraged to carry out their own due diligence prior to purchase. No guarantee can be made that a sample, online image, or unreserved slab will exactly match the final product or any existing installation. Whenever possible, we recommend viewing and reserving specific slabs in person and referring to individual product pages for additional information or supplier documentation.

Edge DETAILS
Enhance the finish of your porcelain worktop with our precision-crafted edge profiles. Designed to complement both modern and traditional interiors, our edge details add a stylish look while maintaining the durability and hygiene benefits.
Each edge is expertly fabricated to ensure a smooth, long-lasting finish.

Return End Styles
Return ends are custom-shaped finishes applied to the exposed edges of the worktop. They’re designed to provide a polished, continuous look where the surface terminates—whether against a wall, cabinet, or open space.
Each return style serves a specific purpose, from creating standout design features to accommodating architectural details or practical use cases. Whether you're planning a flowing curved end, a distinctive break front, or precision notching for cabinetry, these return styles ensure a tailored, high-quality finish.

Upstands
Upstands are an essential element for achieving a refined and practical finish where your worktop meets the wall, offering protection against splashes and spills while creating a seamless transition between horizontal and vertical planes. Square upstands provide a sharp, modern look with a defined 90° junction, and are fixed on-site using special glue or silicone. Fabricated to exacting standards to ensure a good match with your worktop. However, it’s important to note that upstands are made in a straight line, and any imperfections or large variations in the wall profile can leave gaps, which will need to be filled with decorators’ caulk. To achieve the best result, plastering or tiling should be completed after the worktops have been installed, ensuring a polished, professional finish.

Cutouts & Drainer Grooves
Custom cutouts and drainer grooves add both functionality and finesse to your solid surface worktop. Whether you're integrating sinks, hobs, tap holes, or pop-up sockets, each cutout is precisely machined to suit your specifications and seamlessly finished to match the surrounding surface.
Drainer grooves can be added for both style and practicality—angled or flat, they channel water efficiently back into the sink while enhancing the clean, bespoke look of your kitchen or utility space. Every detail is carefully crafted to maintain the durability, hygiene, and elegance of your worktop.

Technical Information
Overhangs and End Panels
Overhangs must be supported every 600mm if over the manufacturers warranty threshold.
Maximum recommended overhang:
- For 12mm material: 250mm. Greater than 250mm requires steel support.
- For 20mm material: 500mm. Greater than 500mm requires steel support.
Due to the weight of the worktops, it is essential that your units are level and securely fixed.
Sinks
A minimum of 70mm is required between sink cut-outs.
If a waste disposal unit is fitted to an undermounted sink after installation, additional support will be required, otherwise your warranty may be invalidated.
Hobs and Splashbacks
Splash backs or wall cladding are installed with a minimum 50mm gap behind an electric hob and a minimum 100mm gap behind a gas hob. There must also be a minimum 50mm gap from the cutout to the front of the worktop. To accommodate these requirements, it is sometimes necessary to widen the worktop to what is called a “breakfront.”
- Sink cutouts are placed a minimum 50mm from the worktop front edge
- A minimum of 120mm is required between two hob cutouts
- A minimum of 100mm is required between hob and sink cutouts
- A minimum of 70mm is required between two sink cutouts
- If a waste disposal unit is fitted to an undermounted sink after installation, additional support will be required, otherwise your warranty may be invalidated
