Caesarstone compared to Silestone

Caesarstone and Silestone are two extremely popular top-of-the-line international brands of quartz worktops, with an exceptional track record for both companies and brand names. It would be hard to declare one “better” than the other. The choice would be determined rather by personal preference, budget and individual circumstances and whichever one you choose, you will be assured of having purchased the highest quality available.

What are the similarities between Caesarstone and Silestone?

Both are:

  • At the top end of luxury and style;
  • Manufactured from natural quartz aggregate, strengthened and improved by adding polymer resins, thereby enhancing the appearance and qualities of the material from which they are manufactured, giving a lustrous three-dimensional crystal-like appearance;
  • High density, non-porous surface that are highly resistant to stains, scratches, heat and other damage (remember, no surface is indestructible and care should be taken to protect your investment);
  • Virtually maintenance free and easily cleaned, with no sealing or treatment required;
  • Available in a vast array of colours, textures, styles and patterns, finishing, end profiles etc;
  • More colour consistent than natural stone;
  • Manufactured with a wide choice of accessories, integrated basins and sinks, upstands, backsplashes, etc;
  • Used for worktops, staircases, flooring and wall cladding, accessories and fittings;
  • Are joined virtually seamlessly, with unobtrusive joints that leave nowhere for germs or dirt to accumulate.
  • Free, or virtually free, from Radon found in natural granite (asserted to be harmful);
  • Backed by a two tier 10 year warranty;
    Fabricated into worktops and professionally installed by the highly esteemed company, worktops.net.

What are the main differences between Caesarstone and Silestone?

Colour range:

Silestone has a wider range of colours, but Caesarstone offers unique exotic colours;

Finishing, edge profiling, etc:

Caesarstone has a wider selection than Silestone, which still has an impressive variety to choose from;

Quartz percentage:

Caesarstone contains a marginally higher percentage natural quartz than Silestone (minimum 93% against minimum 90%) but this does not affect performance;

Price:

Caesarstone is generally more expensive than Silestone, but direct comparisons are somewhat obscured by factors such as choices in colour, finishing and textures;

Hygiene:

Both are ultra-hygienic, but Silestone has a unique patented antibacterial agent baked into the resin, actually killing bacteria;

Track record:

Both brands have developed a solid International reputation for the highest quality, durability and reliability. Caesarstone is manufactured by Caesarstone (Ltd) which was established in 1987 and Silestone is manufactured by Cosentino, established in 1979 and manufacturing Silestone since 1990.
